Red Ranger Isekai Episode 6 Recap and Thoughts

Page content

After a hard-fought battle against the demonic jester Abudabi, the four adventurers managed to return Akalina to its peaceful state. However, Princess Teltina got sick after absorbing a huge amount of mana when her own mana beast, Vrykolakas, devoured the mana seeds from Abudabi’s victims. This prompted the current Royal Scepter, Shau’ha Shemyazal, to take the adventurers and fellow mages to the Sorcery Tower to heal the princess.

Recap

Princess Teltina was taken to the Sorcery Tower in Avallost City, the princess’s hometown. Shau’ha successfully healed the princess, which made Lowji so happy. Overjoyed that the princess would recover soon, Lowji clutched the princess’s body in relief. However, Yhidra and Togo, fearing for Teltina’s safety, had to pull Lowji away from her.

To allow the princess to fully recover the next day, the Royal Scepter then prescribed a compound that slows down the mana seed’s infestation.

As Togo, Yhidra, and Shau’ha entered a library, Yhidra asked the Royal Scepter, “And how did you know how to make that kind of elixir?” “Because I’ve been studying the mana seeds, too? Duh”, Shau’ha responded. The Royal Scepter also explained that the royals backed her, so she couldn’t afford to turn it into a huge spectacle.

This revelation led Yhidra to realize that the royal family, too, harnessed the power of mana seeds. At the same time, Shau’ha noted that most of these seeds remained untapped—lying dormant and unused. Shau’ha explained that these seeds were utilized to compete with other nobles based on their quality or as a military deterrent in times of crisis. “Once they learn that these cursed seeds come from the Royal Demons, they’ll finally come to their senses and hand them over,” Shau’ha explained as she opened a bottle of booze.

Shau’ha then offered Yhidra and Togo a place to sleep for the night.

Yhidra explained to Togo that while magic use is unregulated in their country, any research or development of magical tools requires official certification. She emphasized that, even though she had a license, the magic research would have to be verified by the Sorcery Tower before it was announced to the public. Thus, Shau’ha had complete control over magic research in their country.

Yhidra then asked if the certification was used to limit the use of magic to the aristocracy and the Order of Knights, which elicited a chuckle from Shau’ha. She argued that magic technology should help people who can’t use magic and aid people in their daily activities to improve people’s happiness.

Shau’ha retorted, claiming that Yhidra was just as foolish as her father. She argued that his well-meaning efforts to help the people led to lax regulations, which allowed inexperienced mages to produce low-level products. These products caused a rise in magic-related accidents, such as mana lamp accidents and mana tools originally meant to tame mana beasts being misused for demi-human slavery.

Yhidra countered that these consequences did not justify strict controls on magic. However, Shau’ha thinks ensuring safety when using technology is extremely difficult, so she vigilantly oversaw the usage of magic technology.

Togo agreed with Shau’ha, who believed Yhidra’s dream was hard to achieve. He explained that while tools may be convenient, they can hurt people if not used correctly.

As Togo continued to explain, Yhidra was shocked that he agreed with the Royal Scepter, as she thought he believed in her dream. Blinded by anger, she used her magic broom to leave the Sorcery Tower.

As Yhidra left, she remembered how the mages at the Sorcery Tower preferred to keep their jobs than join her cause, dismissing her dream to bring joy to the people as nothing more than a mere delusion.

Meanwhile, while transformed, Togo began pursuing her with one of Kizuna Five’s robots, prompting Yhidra to order him to halt immediately. Yhidra cried as she thought Togo blindly accepted every remark as if it were profound wisdom. She remarked that, deep down, Togo thought her dream was naive.

Togo leaped from his mech toward Yhidra, saying he didn’t think her dream was impossible. As he jumped, he wrapped his arms around her. They tumbled into the snow.

Yhidra sadly confessed that she thought Togo sided with her. Togo explained to her that he had always supported her dream. He also mentioned that her dream may be hard to achieve, yet he still hoped to see it come to fruition. He explained that one person can’t reach a peaceful world by themself. Thus, one needs bonds to make it come true.

Yhidra smiled as she expected him to say those words.

After they finally reconciled, Togo helped Yhidra get up. She then chuckled as she saw Togo sneeze due to the cold weather.

While heading back to the Sorcery Tower, Togo explained to Yhidra that she needed help from other people, including Shau’ha, to achieve her dream. He described how the government controlled the use of dangerous items.

Yhidra agreed that the controls would be used for safety purposes; however, Shau’ha was too controlling. She thinks low-quality magic tools could be used safely with the proper knowledge. She then proposed opening magic tool clinics in areas without schools where mages could teach how to use these tools properly.

Togo suggested that Yhidra present her suggestions to Shau’ha, believing that her concern for people, combined with Shau’ha’s concern for safety, could make the world a better place. However, Yhidra disagreed due to her grudge after the Shau’ha took the Royal Scepter position from her father.

Togo argued that she should form a bond with the Royal Scepter. Although bonding with her nemesis would be challenging, he believed it could lead to a brighter future. He also offered his assistance to help her achieve her goals.

As Togo offered his hand, Yhidra realized why she was angry when he agreed with Shau’ha—it was because she liked him.

When Yhidra returned to the Sorcery Tower, she took a bath. She looked at the mana metal that he and Togo acquired after they first met, thinking how it could be helpful to people. However, she had trouble figuring out why the mana was crystallized. Most magic crystals form when mana enters the ore deposit, becoming a source of fuel for magical tools or amplifiers.

Yhidra also encountered a problem while examining the mana metal — she had no idea how to draw the mana out or even use it. As she got confused, reminded her of how she was baffled by Togo. She called out his name, and the mana metal reacted, causing him to appear before her!

The two stared at each other in shock as the Kizuna Brace announced, “VERY BAD!” They both screamed as they realized their situation. Togo hurried to leave the bathroom and slipped on a rag, dazing him.

Before he appeared in front of Yhidra, Togo climbed the balcony to visit Lowji. This shocked Lowji, who was prepared to draw his sword, thinking an intruder had arrived in his room. Togo visited him to thank him for helping him in their fight against Abudabi. Lowji responded that it was just pure instinct.

Just then, Lowji heard a sinister voice asking him not to do the same thing again. This shocked him, and he asked Togo if he had said it. However, Togo dodged the question.

When asked what he was doing, Lowji told Togo that he was thinking about the place he called “space.” He thought there was a place above the clouds where angels beckoned the dead. However, he was wrong; it was just a vast, empty space. This discovery shocked him when he experienced it.

But before they continued talking, Togo glowed red as he teleported towards Yhidra.

Back in the bathroom, Togo explained to Yhidra that the Emergency Kizuna Warp was activated, teleporting him toward her. In his world, the warp activated when any of the Kizuna Five were in danger and needed backup. However, it required a strong Bond Energy to activate. Yhidra theorized that the mana metal reacted to the Bond Energy, which might cause the mana metal to crystallize.

Professor Pethagoras, the creator of the Kizuna Braces and the Kizuna Beasts, stated that Bond Energy was the universal power source controlling all creation. While Togo thought that the energy couldn’t cross between the two worlds, Yhidra thought that something might link the two worlds together. She also expressed her desire to study him and his link to Bond Energy and mana metal.

The next day, Togo, Yhidra, Lowji, and Princess Teltina waited outside the throne room for a meeting with the King. Togo and Yhidra couldn’t face one another, which made Teltina think that they had done a Bond Merger the night before. Yhidra got flustered and argued that she would never do such a thing. The four of them bickered, which attracted Shau’ha’s attention, who didn’t expect them to talk like that in public.

A meeting was then conducted with the King; First Prince Dariel; Regulus Machvolt, the Commander of the Imperial Order of Knights; and Shau’ha, the current Royal Scepter, about the connection between the mana seeds and the Royal Demons. The King planned to issue a decree to seize mana seeds from anyone using them to keep her daughter, Teltina, safe. However, the princess wanted to continue her journey as some people wouldn’t want to surrender the seeds, and her power was needed to retrieve them. The King agreed and asked her daughter to be careful while on her journey.

However, Dariel disagreed with the plan. He wanted to use the seeds as military weapons and argued that he could dispose of the Royal Demons when they threatened his plan. Teltina argued that the demons could manipulate the mana seeds to their advantage. Still, Shau’ha plans to conduct experiments to modify them so they can be used safely.

Thus, the King ordered that the mana seeds would be seized from its users. Princess Teltina would handle anyone who refused to surrender them.

After the meeting, Dariel allowed Teltina to continue her journey but urged her not to do anything that might tarnish the royal family. Her sister thanked him for his concern. The prince noticed the princess’s shift in demeanor, which made him think she wanted to replace her brother Alteo. She reassured him that she could never replace her brother.

Yhidra then talked with Shau’ha and discussed her suggestions with the Royal Scepter. The scepter took offense, thinking Yhidra forced ideas onto her. However, noticing that Yhidra wanted to be on her good side, she offered a suggestion.

The four adventurers then continued their journey in a hot desert.

Final Thoughts

This episode discussed the importance of regulations for the use of dangerous substances. While restrictions on the use of technology might sound oppressive at first glance, they are essential to avoid accidents and prevent these technologies from being used for nefarious purposes. We also learned why Yhidra’s father lost his position as the Royal Scepter. His desire to make magic accessible to everyone also meant lax regulations, which caused incidents of magic misuse.

It’s also great that Togo is not naive, as he is open to new perspectives. He showed Yhidra that it’s essential to consider other people’s viewpoints, even her nemesis, Shau’ha. And while the current Royal Scepter felt annoyed by how Yhidra pushed her ideas onto her, at least it would start their reconciliation.

This episode also showed the relationship between Togo and Yhidra as she started to like him! I honestly didn’t expect this development this early, but I’m interested in how Togo would react, considering he might be dense regarding relationships. I also liked how they used the awkwardness between the two for a BOND MERGER joke. Lowji should’ve known by now that Teltina is not THAT innocent.

I was honestly interested more in the dark side of Togo, who asked Lowji to stop putting himself in harm’s way. I wonder where this side of his came from, as I've read that it would eventually become Kizuna Black.

Finally, Dariel sounds suspicious as he tries to convince his father to seize the mana seeds instead of disposing of them. He might be one of the future antagonists who plans to use the seeds for invasions.

Overall, this was a great episode! I can’t wait to see more of this show!
