Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 25 Recap and Thoughts

Page content

Last time, we saw the double debut of Kamen Rider Gavv’s Blizzardsorbet form and Kamen Rider Valen’s Chocold form! Hanto managed to save his “friend” who betrayed him and got pressed for his troubles. Having trouble transforming into his base form, Hanto was forced to use the Chocold gochizo gifted to him by Suga. Meanwhile, Shoma managed to defeat another Bitter Gavv clone with Sachika’s help. Her soft-serve ice cream granted Shoma icy powers, which he put into good use by defeating the clone who enjoys terrorizing people.

Recap

Shoma shared to Sachika that he could only eat ice cream as Blizzardsorbei gochizos are the ones he could make safely without compromising his health. She didn’t mind, and tells him to take this opportunity to eat a lot of ice cream. They then stumbled into Lakia, who was resting on a park bench, where Shoma offered to eat ice cream with them.

The three went to Hapipare to eat ice cream cakes. Shoma was confused at first since the snacks looked like cakes, but eventually grew to love it. As he enjoyed the cake, he could create a new Blizzardsorbei gochizo. Lakia, on the other hand, wasn’t satisfied with the cakes, opting for a rock instead. Sachika was shocked when Lakia pulled out a rock and ate it in front of her.

Shoma explained to Sachika that a Granute’s diet consists of rocks and metals. Since he and his mom couldn’t eat rocks, they ate weeds instead. This explanation made Sachika understand why Shoma didn’t know about snacks and bentos.

Shoma then told Lakia not to eat rocks in public because it would scare humans. Sachika also invited Lakia to be a part-timer in order for him to understand humans better. Shoma thought this was a good idea, as Lakia was forced to stay in the human world after he could no longer go back to the Granute world. Initially, Lakia refused the offer, but Shoma managed to convince him to work as the money he would earn would let him buy tastier rocks. Well, if he could eat gems, then why not? Regular rocks can be found in nature for free anyway.

Lakia and Sachika then left Hapipare for work. Sachika then asked Shoma to stay behind to work on a commission for a local kid’s club.

Meanwhile, Kabutoman, a VTuber, set up a meet-up with his fan. He offered the fan a tasty cake for her to taste, which she really loved. As she eats her snack, a Granute tongue wrapped around her, turning her into a Hitopress.

Turns out, the “Kabutoman” was a persona used by a Granute to lure victims in, turning them into Dark Treat spice. After grabbing the spice, he received a message that the Stomach Inc. asked for assistance in capturing Lakia (whose codename was Lage-9) as he was branded as a traitor after betraying the company.

Back at his lab, Suga asked Hanto if he liked his Valentine’s present, the Chocold gochizo. While he didn’t like the gochizo being called a Valentine’s present, he appreciated the power it gave him.

Hanto also noticed a lot of pizza boxes in his lab, which made him question if Suga had a pizza party. Suga made an excuse, telling him that a young friend of his stopped by and ate a lot of pizzas. Little did Hanto know, those were all for Bitter Gavv, whom Hanto saw on social media attacking a dojo. He thought of calling Sachika on the phone to inform her of Bitter Gavv, but he hesitated as he thinks he got enough power to handle Bitter Gavv on his own.

Suga fixed his glasses, happy to hear that Hanto is getting stronger thanks to the Chocold gochizo.

Sachika brought Lakia to an old lady’s house to help her with rearranging furniture. Just like Shoma, Lakia also has superhuman strength, which he showcased by effortlessly moving furniture. However, unlike Shoma, Lakia was easily exhausted after rearranging furniture.

As Shoma worked on the commission, he was informed by a gochizo that a Bitter Gavv clone is now attacking martial artists. However, Hanto arrived first and fought the clone by transforming into Kamen Rider Valen Chocold form.

After finishing two commissions, Lakia thought that helping Sachika in her business was decent enough as he gets to earn money. However, he still doesn’t understand why humans act the way they do, especially after seeing a couple so excited about eating a cake.

Bitter Gavv eventually got annoyed with Valen who got stronger, so he ran away, using the Bitter Gavvgablade as a distraction.

Shoma then arrived at the dojo, but it’s too late as Bitter Gavv already had ran away. When he arrived, he saw Hanto, but neither of them wanted to talk to each other. Hanto then left the dojo while feeling discomfort due to the side effects of the Chocold gochizo.

Meanwhile, Lakia was asked to buy cakes as a customer was too busy to go to the shop. She wanted to try the cake after she saw it on Kabutoman’s stream. Kabutoman’s review of the best sweets prompted her to try out the cake.

Sachika asked Lakia about his experience. He first mentioned the money was good. Sachika clarified to ask about his experience in meeting humans, but Lakia can’t give an answer.

Lakia and Sachika then went to a park to meet Kouji Minamoto, who hired Hapipare to accompany him in meeting Kabutoman. Sachika wanted to join Lakia, but there was a cancellation she needs to attend to, leaving Lakia to join Kouji on his own.

Back at Hapipare, Shoma was worried about Hanto as he saw him having a heart problem.

Sachika arrived back at Hapipare and informed Shoma that Lakia accompanied someone who wants to meet Kabutoman. She and Shoma watched Kabutoman’s stream when they noticed comments about fans who got missing after meeting the VTuber.

As Kouji went to meet Kabutoman, they stopped by a pudding shop. Seeing Kouji got so excited about wanting to try pudding reminded Lakia of his little brother Comel when they go out buying rocks.

Lakia then received a call from Shoma warning him that Kabutoman might be a Granute. Shoma also asked him to cancel the meet-up for Kouji’s safety. When he tried to stop the meet-up though, Kouji got stubborn and continued going. This prompted a worried Lakia to go after Kouji.

Shoma, still physically weak, tried to go after Kabutoman. He was then informed by a Senbei gochizo of a Bitter Gavv clone nearby. This prompted Shoma to take care of Bitter Gavv first.

After beating up the security guards, Bitter Gavv challenged Shoma to a fight. Seeing that his master was still weak, the Senbei gochizo assisted Shoma in opening his Gavv to help him transform.

Kouji eventually arrived at Kabutoman’s mansion where he was greeted by Kabutoman. The VTuber invited Kouji to eat his favorite cake, but Kouji declined. Kouji expressed his frustration about his identity as Kabutoman being stolen. He also confronted the fake VTuber about the fans who got missing after meeting their idol.

Knowing that he can’t play the farce any longer, Granute Le Beet, a rhinoceros beetle Granute showed up from behind the tv screen. He told Kouji that he used the Kabutoman VTuber model to lure victims and turn them into spice.

Luckily, Lakia showed up just in time to protect Kouji.

Meanwhile, Shoma had a lot of trouble fighting Bitter Gavv. He tried to end it quickly with a finisher as his body was getting tired, but the Blizzardsorbei gochizo melted first, undoing his transformation. Thanks to this, Bitter Gavv managed to land a solid blow before leaving the scene.

As Bitter Gavv playfully ran after defeating Shoma, he stumbled into Hanto, who transformed into Valen’s Chocold form. Valen overwhelmed Bitter Gavv thannks to the enhanced power granted by the Chocold gochizo. After trapping Bitter Gavv, he landed a powerful finisher, killing the clone.

After his fight, Hanto’s health continued to worsen due to the side effects of the Chocold gochizo.

Back at Kabutoman’s mansion, Granute Le Beet confronted Lakia as he got branded as a traitor by the Stomach Inc. He pointed out that he’s a fool for betraying Stomach Inc. Lakia argued that the Le Beet was a fool for being addicted to Dark Treats as the company will use him until he’s no longer useful for the company.

Le Beet argued he’s no fool, unlike his brother, who betrayed Stomach Inc. and got killed for his betrayal. This angered Lakia, who transformed into Kamen Rider Valen to fight the Stomach Inc. part-timer.

Final Thoughts

I really love the first Lakia-focused episode of this series. We get to see how Lakia improves as a character through Kouji as it reminds him of his younger brother Comel. We also see how his protective side is shown in his episode, as seen in how he was worried about Kouji’s safety. This protectiveness is also solidified angry after Le Beet insulted his deceased younger brother. I can’t wait to see how this chapter concludes for Lakia’s character!

Meanwhile, we see how Shoma’s newest gochizo has a problem: a time limit as Blizzardsorbei melts just like ice cream. I really enjoyed the fight scene, showing how Shoma was desperate to end the battle quickly before his body gives up. I honestly hoped that the newest power-up has a better showing, but sadly, his weakened body didn’t help in beating Bitter Gavv.

On the other hand, Hanto defeated Bitter Gavv easily, at the cost of his heart problem. Looks like the Chocold had a bitter effect on his heart. I honestly wonder what is Suga’s endgame. Hopefully, Hanto will realize Suga is not looking out for him before he gets too weak to fight back against him.

Overall, this was a solid episode. I’m looking forward to see how the next episode unfolds.
